Donald Sonn: A Love of Skiing

Donald Sonn is an experienced and highly skilled urologist and surgeon. He currently lives and works in Springfield, Massachusetts. He began his career with the Urology Group of Western New England and is currently still employed there. After finishing college, he attended the Albert Einstein College of Medicine at Yeshiva University and later completed three residency programs at the Long Island Jewish Medical Center.

Medicine is a demanding career and those who aim to succeed often have to put in long hours at the office in order to do so and Donald Sonn is no exception. His work ethic helps him to appreciate the time he gets to spend away from the office in order to relax and spend time with his friends and family. Donald Sonn has many different hobbies including mountain biking, travelling, and volunteer work, but one of his favorite hobbies is skiing.

As you probably know skiing is a winter sport in where skis are used to glide down snowy hills and mountains. Skiing was, historically, a mode of transportation for navigating through icy mountainous terrain, but over the past few hundred years it has evolved into a completive and recreational sport enjoyed by many people throughout the world. Skiing might seem like a difficult or even dangerous sport to get into, but provided you know your limitations, are careful, and maintain your safety equipment it can be enjoyed in relative safety.

For those who are interested in taking up skiing as a sport, it is recommended that they first take lessons with a competent trainer. The reason for this is that, while skiing isn’t as dangerous as it might look, it can still be dangerous for amateurs mainly because they may not know their limits and might take on more than they can chew which can lead to serious injury. Furthermore, even if you aren’t doing anything risky a competent trainer can make your first experience all the more enjoyable since you’ll master the basics a lot quicker with someone to show you the ropes.

Dr. Donald Sonn: Seeing the World

There are a lot of reasons why people travel. Some do it simply as a way to get away from their busy lives for a few weeks or so. Others enjoy getting to see new places and meet new people. Whatever their reasons, the joy of travelling and exploring is one that nearly everyone can relate to. But in addition to the enjoyment factor, there are several benefits to travelling. Dr. Donald Sonn is a hard working surgeon and in his free time enjoys various hobbies such as skiing, biking and travelling, which can be combined very well.

One of the more obvious benefits traveling provides is the education factor. By exposing yourself to new places and new people you can learn a lot that you’d never learn in school or a library. For instance, most experts agree that the best way to learn a new language is by immersing yourself in the culture. Two weeks in Paris will likely teach you more about French than two months in a classroom will. It’s not just the language though, you will learn more about a country’s culture, society and values by spending time there then you will by reading about it in a book.

Another benefit to travelling is that you will expose yourself to new ideas and customs that can challenge the way you see the world. If you’ve never been outside your country or even your home town then it is really easy to subconsciously assume that everyone thinks the way you do and that’s a difficult habit to break without exposing yourself to new ideas.

Travelling to new places is also a great way to meet and interact with people you’d normally never see and it can be an eye-opening experience for some. You might only talk to some of the people for a few minutes, but others might become friends for life. This can also help you with your interactions back home as it is a good way to help you relate to people who come from different backgrounds and have different views on issues then you do. For example Donald Sonn has learn t a lot from his travels which is one of the reasons why he vacations at least once per year.

Dr. Donald Sonn: Education and Professionalism

Donald Sonn received his medical degree from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine at Yeshiva University. Once he completed medical school he went on to attend residency at the Long Island Jewish Medical Center. His residency program consisted of three parts: The Department of Surgery, the Department of Urology, and he spent the last year as the Chief Resident of the Department of Urology.
Since 1997, Donald Sonn has been employed by Urology Group of Western New England where has performed many surgeries relating to various urological disorders. In addition to his role at the Urology Group of Western New England, Sonn has been active in several different professional organizations throughout the course of his career including the Mass Medical Society, the American College of Surgeons and several other medical organizations. From 2004 to 2007 he taught at the Tufts University School of Medicine where he received the “Excellence in Teaching Award.” Additionally, Donald Sonn has been published in several academic journals where he wrote about various medical issues and surgery treatment options. In 2007 he was appointed to the position of Chief of Surgery at Cooley Dickinson Hospital which he maintains to this day.

Professionalism is important in nearly every job, but it matters more so in medicine than most since people are putting their health and sometimes their life in your hands. Maintaining a professional demeanor can be a bit of challenge since you don’t want to come across as too detached because it might seem like you do not care about your patients or their troubles. Ultimately a doctor has to find the right balance between professionalism and a reassuring bedside manner especially if they have to deliver bad news to a patient or their loved ones. A professional should always treat his patients and their family’s with courtesy and respect and should strive to answer any questions they might have to the best of their ability.

Donald Sonn: The Path to a Career in Medicine

A career in medicine is a long and difficult road that requires many years of hard work and study. In addition to the four years of undergraduate work it requires at least four years of medical school to earn an M.D. If you choose to specialize in a certain area of practice then that will require additional education. In addition to your time in the classroom, doctors must spend anywhere from three to seven years working as resident at a hospital. For example, Donald Sonn spent nearly seven years in residency programs before he was allowed to practice on his own.

The high barriers to entry and years of education might seem daunting to some, but it is necessary in order to ensure that doctors have the knowledge and practical experience they need in order to tend to the needs of their patients.

Even after all the training is completed doctors still have a long road ahead of them. Most students have to take out loans in order to pay for their education and these debts are often in the range of hundreds of thousands of dollars and can take many years to fully pay off. Despite the popular image of medical school being a golden ticket to success the fact is that a medical career is not an easy one and, even after all of the debts are paid off, doctors will still have to work long hours under stressful conditions. The ones who succeed in the career are those who truly have a passion for medicine and want to improve the lives of their patients.

Donald Sonn is an professional urologist who has practiced medicine for nearly 20 years. He is currently working as a surgeon at the Urology Group of Western New England where he has worked since he began his career in 1997. During his time there he has performed a number of surgeries to treat diseases such as Stone’s Disease and urological issues. He has also authored several articles for medical journals and has held a teaching position at Tufts University School of Medicine.

Dr. Donald Sonn: Preventative Measures

Dr. Donald Sonn says that by preventing disease you not only save your health, but your wallet as well, as many medical treatments today can be very pricey, especially in America. As a professional in the medical field, he says that there is no more effective way to cure a disease, than to never contract the disease in the first place, prompting the old adage that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Donald Sonn says that this saying still rings true because by people living healthy lifestyles with a moderate amount of exercise and a good diet tend to live much longer and more rigorous lives. He says that while modern medicine has some of the most effective treatments it has ever had in its history, and has solely been responsible for the increase in life expectancy by many years, that taking care of our body is still the most effective way to increase life span as well as quality of life. He says that prevention methods are so much easier and inexpensive compared to treating disease, which is why doctors always lecture you to stay healthy.

Urology physician Dr. Donald Sonn as well as a businessman who believes in taking preventative measures to counteract disease. The reason this is true is because nothing is better than your own immune system at combating disease, so if your body is maintained in excellent shape, in turn its immune system will be more readily prepared to dispatch with potential diseases. He says that a healthy and physically fit individual such as an athlete has a much better chance of staving off a disease than someone who is inactive and eats poorly.
